AAFA Social Security Data

Before the SSDI (Social Security Death Index) was so common on the Internet, AAFA about 1990-91 purchased a Alford data base file of SSDI data from Cambridge Statistical Research Associates, Inc. of Cambridge OH. That was the source of most of the AAFA SSDI. Additions and updates since that time have been partial and sporadic at best. If you want to be sure of complete coverage then you should go to ancestry.com or to rootsweb.

In most cases the "place of birth" was actually the state in which the subject registered for social security.
