Many of us were privileged to meet Christie and Paul at the 1989 AAFA meeting in Houston,TX. We met them
again in 1990 at the Raleigh NC meeting where Christie made a presentation on Lodwick Alford lands.
PLEASE NOTICE: Many of the letters written by Gil Alford use AAFA letterhead which had preprinted
information on officers and directors on the top right. Hence the blank space on the first page of some of
his letters. In the early days he did not print a file copy of the final version of the letter and used a
copy of the draft instead. They will be so identified.
Gil Alford's letter inviting Christie to join the Alford effort.
Christie's reply. See also the pedigree she sent which is accessible
from Christie's page.
Gil Alford's complimenting and thanking Christie for the presentation
she made at the 1990 AAFA meeting in Raleigh, NC.
Christie's reply. With a two page enclosure loaded with information
that had little to do with her October presentation.
Christie's last letter. Christie was born in 1906 and when it appeared she
may be getting near the end, we (someone in AAFA - not sure just who) contacted her about sharing some of
her Alford collection with AAFA. \ This is a "letter" she wrote to AAFA President Max Alford in April 2005
when she would have been 99 years old. It was her last communication with AAFA and you can see that even at
age 99 she was still very interested in Alfords. In addition to the letter she sent a copy of the book she
prepared based on a presentation she made at the AAFA meeting 1990 in Raleigh, NC. She also sent a box with
100's of copies and pages of other information, most of which is, or will be, displayed on our AAFA website
and linked from Christie's page.
