I, Wilie Alford, being of sound and purfect (sic) mind and memory, do make and publish
this my last will and testament in manner and form following; I have given to my Children
Britton D. Alford, Louisa J. Walker, Ruth A. Cawthon, Mary P. Hays, and James P. Alford
all that I intend them to have of my Estate. I will all my just debts to be paid. I also
will and give to my Daughter Clarky M. Lumkins children (to wit) Tirsa Q. Lumpkins, James
B. Lumkins and Mary A. Lumpkins, one Negro Woman, Huldy & her two Children, three
beds and one Beauro (sic) to be equally divided between them. I have Given my Son Edmond
L. Alford one horse. I also Give my Son Benjamin M. Alford one Gray Horse. I also Give
and bequeath to my Daughter Sophia V. Jarmon one Negro Girl Angeline during her natural
life and then to go to her Children. I look upon the Negro Girl Angeline as being unsound
and I value her to my Daughter Sophia at three hundred Dollars. I also give to my Son
Wilie N. B. Alford one Negro Boy Jim at Eight hundred Dollars. I also will and bequeath
to my beloved Wife Sophia V. Alford all the Remainder of my property both Real and personal
during her natural life and at the death of my Wife I will that it shall be equally divided
between my four youngest Children to wit: Wilie N. B. Alford, Sophia V. Jarmon, Edmond L.
Alford, and Benjamin M. Alford. Except the Eight hundred Dollars that I have given to my
Son Wilie N. B. Alford and the three hundred Dollars that I have given to my Daughter
Sophia V. Jarmon which is to be taken from the last division as received by them. I also
will that my Wife Sophia V. Alford if she can spare them give to my Sons Edmond L. Alford
and Benjamin M. Alford one negro a piece at valuation to be taken out of their part of the
final division. I hereby appoint my friend John Crudup sole executor of this my last will
and testament hereby revoking all former wills by me made. In witness whereof, I have here
unto set my hand and affixed my seal this 19th day of September 1853.
