166. Lodwick Alford, Sr. was born about 1710 in New Kent County, VA. His 1st marriage was in 1733 in St Peters Parish, New Kent County, VA to 167. Elizabeth Cade who was born Apr 29, 1717 in New Kent County, VA and died there May 29, 1735. His 2nd marriage was in 1735 to Susanna Cade who was born Sep 25, 1718 and died in 1738 in St. Peter's Parish, New Kent County, VA. Accurate information concerning his 3rd marriage is Unknown. Lodwick died in 1800 in Franklin County, NC and is buried in a deeded private cemetery on home property in Franklin County, NC.
NOTE 1: Three possible marriages for Lodwick:
- Sarah _____ -- From papers found in Etheldred Taylor's Estate File, in 1793, a North Carolina court record lists Lodwick's wife as Sarah. Possible Sarahs are:
Sarah Horton, born about 1720, died in 1831 in Franklin County, NC;
Sarah Smith, no known information; or
Sarah Ferrell, born about 1720 in Franklin County, NC, died after 1768 in Franklin County, NC.- Rebecca Ferrell -- born in 1720. There has long been a family tradition, reinforced by some DAR records, that Lodwick married a Rebecca Ferrell. Nothing has been found to support this idea.

- 1671 - Shaftesbury County was cut from Albemarle County
- 1684 - Shaftesbury County was renamed Chowan County
- 1722 - Bertie County was created from Chowan County

- 1746 - Granville County was created from the western half of Edgecombe County
- 1764 - Bute County was created from the eastern half of Granville County

Birth and death dates are estimates based on other recorded events in New Kent County, VA in the St. Peter's Parish Register. PLEASE NOTE: It is not proven that he was the son of John Alford but there is some circumstantial evidence indicating that he is.
