JOHN ALFORD BIBLE

Now in the possession of Dr. Robert Alford, Nashville, TN
Publisher: Philadelphia: Printed by John Adams for Mathew Carey, 1804
Submitted by Mrs. Jane W. Alford, AAFA #0550, of Lewisburg, TN, to Carolyn McAdams

AAFA NOTES:This John Alford, grandson of John and Mary Alford of Frederick Co. VA, was the son of William and Letitcia/Lettia Alford. Letitcia's maiden name is not known although CLARK has been suggested. John was born in Frederick Co. VA, before his family moved to Amherst Co. VA some time between 1761 and 1767. After his marriage and the birth of most if not all children, he and his family left Amherst Co. VA, early in the 1800's and went to Davidson Co. TN. He was a Revolutionary War pensioner until his death. His father's estate was probated in Nelson Co. VA, and his mother was there at least until that time. It is not known whether she was living in John's household when she died in 1823, but this is the only record AAFA has concerning her after her husband's probate record.
