FAMILY RECORD

[Records from a BROWN Family Bible were included in this Alford Bible. No connection has been found with this family? Does anyone know of a Brown connection to this family? AAFA has the additional pages - dates range from 1805-1896.]

AAFA NOTES:This is the Bible of Margaret Mitchell Alford who was the wife of Cary F. Alford, son of Nathaniel Alford and America Smith, and grandson of Charles Alford who was probably the first Alford in Kentucky. Mag and Cary were the parents of only two children, a son who became the Lt. Gov. of KY from 1891-1895 (Mitchell Cary Alford), and a daughter Alice who married Asa McConathy. The McConathys are living with Mitchell Alford in 1900 in Fayette County and have the following children: Asa, Jr. born 1874, Margaret born 1877, Cary (girl) born 1881, Lillie Mae born 1883 and Pinkie Lou born 1886. Mitchell never married so there are no descendants of this family named Alford. Most of this family is buried in the Lexington Cemetery in Lexington, KY (Fayette Co.).
