New Mexico Obituaries
NEW MEXICO OBITUARIES OF ALFORDS
AND SPELLING VARIATIONS
Obituaries are listed alphabetically by FIRST name. Included are people whose last name, maiden name, or married name is Alford or a spelling variation: Alfred, Alvord, Allford, Halford, Hallford, Holford, etc.
The name of the newspaper (or other source) and place and date of publication follow the name of the deceased. If we included the obituary in AAFA ACTION, the issue is noted.
The Alford American Family Association (AAFA) often adds notes to each obituary, including Social Security Death Index (SSDI) data, relationship of the deceased to other Alfords, and lineages. We add to AAFA NOTES as time permits.
Where lineages are included (Alford unless otherwise stated), the format is: Name, year of birth, state or country of birth.
Obituaries of AAFA members and sometimes their spouses are also included on AAFA Member Memorials and may include more information.
We welcome corrections and additional information. If you have an obituary from this state that is not included here, please share it with us!

GLADYS LOUISE GORE ALFORD
ALBUQUERQUE JOURNAL
Albuquerque, Bernalillo Co., NM—Sunday, 13 July 2003
Our loving mother, Gladys (Gladi) Louise Alford, and devoted wife to our father, Maurice Gilbert (Gil) Alford, Major-USAF-Retired, became an angel on July 2, 2003. Our mother was born on May 22, 1938 in San Antonio, Texas. While on vacation in San Antonio, Texas she met our father. It was love at first sight. Our parents were married on December 18, 1956. Our parents were transferred to Dreux, France, where we were born. It was our mother’s endless love, strength, never-ending energy, constant enthusiasm that kept our family together through the many military relocations in our lives.
Our mother was born with a strong sense of creativity, and she expressed herself through her many forms of art and literature. Our mother enjoyed drawing, painting, playing piano, reading, writing, creating children’s stories, decorating, and she especially loved her award winning cloth doll making. She has had numerous articles and patterns published in leading cloth doll magazines, as well as winning all levels of ribbons for lovely and creative cloth dolls.
In addition to her creative expressions, our mother enjoyed another passion—real estate. For over thirty years she enjoyed the many aspects of real estate and particularly residential property management. She built close friendships with the many people she associated with over the years through her own company, Gladi Alford Realty.
She was a kind, talented and wonderful mother, and she was our father’s loving and caring life partner and his best friend. We truly thank her for all that she has taught us and given to us of herself. We are thankful we share a likeness in our hearts of her, and mom will always be a part of us.
Our mother, Gladi, is survived by her husband, Maurice Gilbert (Gil) Alford; her son, Mark Kenric Alford and his wife, (Gladi’s daughter-in-law) Adriana Solange Garcia de Alford; their children (Gladi’s grandchildren), Jacob Charles Alford and Alyson Marie Alford; and her daughter, Anja and their daughters (Gladi’s grandchildren), Brooke Nicole Rogers and Jessica Amber Rogers-Gomez along with her husband (grandson in-law), Arturo Gomez and their son (Gladi’s great-grandson), Marco Antonio Gomez.
