Ray joined the association in July 1988 and he and his sister were two of the few who attended the October 1988 meeting in Atlanta, GA.  He attended several other meetings.  Those who were present in 1988 will remember him as the fellow who got up and moved to the front to present AAFA treasurer Julius M. Alford with a check for $500 when the latter began to talk about donations.  Ray followed up each year for several years with another $500 check.  He was listed on each of the annual AAFA Centurion Members groups.  In 1991 we sought a change in the leadership which had been in place since 1987 and asked Ray if he would consider running for President.  He consented but the late Hal Alford actually became the president.  Ray did run for vice-president and he was elected and served from 1991 to 1995 and he served on the board of directors from 1991 to 1996.  Ray was always a very supportive member and officer.
