Home page for Jewell Alford Gallaugher, AAFA #0003
Jewell Alford Gallaugher was the first member known to have compiled a major Alford genealogy. The work, commonly known as "The Alford Sketch" was about the descendants of John Alford who died 1748 in Frederick Co., VA and his wife Mary. That genealogy is now identified in AAFA as JOH696MD. Jewell, who admits to being a self-taught typist probably completed the work in the 1970s, and it was first published in two parts in the late Tressie Bowman's Alford Family Bulletin. Jewell later provided updates directly to AAFA.
