DAILY NEWS
Griffin, Spalding Co., GA—Monday, 19 October 2009
Mrs. Mary A. Lynch, 82, of Griffin, passed away
on Sunday, Oct. 18, 2009, at her residence.
Mrs. Lynch was born July 28, 1927, in Clark
County, Ga., to the late Elder and Frances Alford. In addition to her parents,
she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 48 years, Bill Lynch;
sister, Louise Norton, Frances Hudson; and brothers, Billy Alford and David
Alford. Also preceding Mrs. Lynch in death was great-grandson, Lance Cpl.
Jeffery Walker, who was killed in May 2007, while serving in Iraq.
Mrs. Lynch is survived by a son, Jimmy Smith of
Franklin, Ga.; daughter and son-in-law, Frances and Charles Durham of Griffin,
Ga.; and special adopted son, Jerry “Pee Wee” Easterland of Franklin, Ga. She
is also survived by sisters, Clara McLean of Madison, Ga., Vada Harden of
Griffin, Ga., and Mae Alford of Conyers, Ga.; and brother, Daniel Alford of
Griffin, Ga. Mrs. Lynch also leaves behind grandchildren, Denise Smith, Karen
Cann, Teresa Rutledge, Keith Patten, Kim Shepherd, and Susan Maddron; 12
great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind
special and dear friends of hers and the family, Mr. and Mrs. Emmet and Diane
Bishop, Mrs. Sue Woodard and Mrs. Alice Faye Beck, all of Griffin.
This ends a five-generation family legacy that
started in 1963. Mrs. Lynch was retired from Glass Container Corp. in Forest
Park. After retiring, she continued her love of gardening her flowers and
vegetables. She also enjoyed mowing her lawn and being outdoors. She also loved
traveling, especially to the North Georgia mountains. Another joy was working
with her daughter, Frances, researching the genealogy of the Alford and Lynch
families. Mrs. Lynch was a devoted individual to her Lord and Savior, Jesus
Christ. Anyone that has had the joy of knowing her knew that when she said, “I
Love You,” these words came from the heart.
