Alford, Elizabeth H. (Betty)—Born November 22, 1924, in Pasadena, California, to Henry and Edith Locan Human. Betty passed away in Huntington Beach, California, July 7, 2012, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s.

She is survived by her son Chris of Huntington Beach; California and daughter Peggy of Auburn, Alabama, and four granddaughters.

A native of San Marino, she attended Pasadena High School (CA) and graduated as Valedictorian of the class of 1942, and continued her education at UC Berkley where she was a member of Pi Beta Phi (Pi Phi) sorority. Married 2nd Lieutenant (USN), Jack L. Alford in 1944, living in Coronado, Manhattan Beach, San Marino, Glendora, Newport Beach, and La Jolla, California, (Jack predeceased her in 2006).

Betty’s life was always centered around her family who she loved dearly. Betty became an astute business woman, first as a Real Estate Agent in San Marino, and later as a Real Estate Broker and business owner. She co-founded the very successful, “Glendora Properties” with Jean Butler. She and Jack were avid boaters in their spare time, and she was an active member of the Balboa Yacht Club where she and Jack chaired the Committee that ran annual Ensenada Yacht Race in the early 70’s. She was always active in the local community, particularly in Newport Beach, (Balboa Peninsula Point Association), where she was responsible for the redesign of residential street signage. Betty had a passion for life and met every day with a smile, loved people, family, and a countless number of pets of all kinds. Her family misses her terribly.
