Christine Alford Knight was born on a farm in
Mount Hermon on Jan. 1, 1921, and was a longtime resident of Baton Rouge. She
received her nursing degree from Touro Infirmary in 1941 and a CPH degree from
Peabody College in 1944. For 33 years she was employed with the Louisiana
Public Health Department coordinating cripple children's clinics in several
parishes until her retirement in 1975.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 44
years, C.B. Knight; and her parents, Esco Seaborn Alford and Mary Lou Fussell
Alford. She was also preceded in death by brothers, Alcus E. Alford, Cleo
Alford and Tolbert W. Alford; and sisters, Eckul Alford Bankston and Dewees
Alford Bickham.
She is survived by her daughter, Charlotte and
son-in-law Daniel Pfeifer, of Charlotte, N.C.; and her three beloved
grandchildren, Melanie Pfeifer Armstrong and her husband, Richard Armstrong, of
Durham. N.C., Jonathan Charles Pfeifer and Elizabeth Ann Pfeifer, both of
Charlotte.
She was a longtime, active member of Trinity
Episcopal Church and served us chairperson of the Altar Guild for several
years. She was also involved with the American Legion Nicholson Post No. 38
Ladies Auxiliary.

The family would like to express its
appreciation to the 2nd-floor A-D staff of St. James Place for their love and
care.
Visiting will be at Trinity Episcopal Church on
Thursday, Nov. 6, from 10 a.m. until religious service at 11 a.m., conducted by
the Rev. Ken Ritter. Burial in Greenoaks Memorial Park.
