Martha
Jean Fulton Harvey, 89, of Roanoke, passed away on Memorial Day, May 27, 2013.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, John Eldridge Harvey;
son, John Davis Harvey; four sisters; and a brother.
Jean
left a legacy as a devout Christian who believed in works and a loving mother
who believed in patriotism. She was a lifelong member of Calvary Baptist Church
where she filled many roles including deacon and Sunday School superintendent.
She was active in the Daughters of the American Revolution, serving as regent
and State Chaplain. Jean retired from the Social Security Administration
following over 20 years service at the Veterans Administration Hospital.
She
is survived by her daughter, Jaye Harvey Wellons (Hugh); daughter-in-law, Alisa
Harvey Dick (Tom); five grandchildren, Lauren Harvey Andrews (Tim), Meredith
Paige Dick, Aaron Andrew Dick, Hannah Ruth Harvey Wellons, Rebekah Davis Harvey
Wellons; and five great-grandchildren.
The
family will receive friends on Thursday May 30, 2013, from 4 to 6 p.m. at
Oakey's South Chapel at 4257 Brambleton Ave S.W. in Roanoke. The funeral
service will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday May 31, 2013, at Calvary Baptist
Church located at 608 Campbell Avenue S.W. in Roanoke.
In
lieu of flowers, Jean would welcome gifts to the Calvary Baptist Church
Foundation.

Her
sister Mary Elizabeth Fulton Price is AAFA #0705. They both attended the 1994
