On November 24, 2012, Vincent Michael
"Mike" Heazel of Gwynn Oak [Baltimore Co.], formerly of Severna Park
[Anne Arundel Co.], died peacefully after a long struggle with cancer.
Mike was born in 1925 in Roanoke, Va. He served
with the U.S. Army infantry in France and Austria during World War II. Upon
discharge he entered UVA and earned a degree in Electrical Engineering in 1951.
He spent the next 36 years pursuing his passion for electronics and technology
by working for Westinghouse Electric as a radar and electronic countermeasures
engineer (a true 'Old Crow').
In 1952 he married his sweetheart, Elizabeth
Grossman, and they settled in Severna Park. He was a charter member of Our
Shepherd Lutheran Church, serving in the choir, on the church council, and as
an enthusiastic member of the work crew. For 20 years, the boys in the
community benefited greatly from his leadership of Boy Scout Troop 796. His interests
included travel, history, and genealogy.
Mike is survived by his wife Elizabeth,
daughters Barbara and Susan, sons Chuck and Tom, eight grandchildren, and a
great-grandchild due in January.
A memorial service will be held at the Augsburg
Lutheran Home Chapel (6811 Campfield Rd., Gwynn Oak, MD 21207) on Friday, Nov.
30 at 11 am. Interment will be at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial
contributions may be made to Augsburg Home
