            Phyllis Hughes Alford—A native and long time resident of Roseland, she entered into eternal rest surrounded by her daughter and son-in-law at North Oaks Medical Center on February 17, 2011 at the age of 91.

            She was preceded in death by her first husband, Staff Sergeant Hollis M. Alford who was killed in World War II; her second husband, William "Bill" Alford; her mother, Julia S. Hughes; father, Thomas Gordon Hughes; brother, John "Jack" Hughes.

            She is survived and will be greatly missed by her only daughter, Mary Lou Alford Caceres and son-in-law, Isidro Pierre Caceres, Terrytown; grandchildren, Simone Caceres Ponish, Roseland, Kirk Caceres, Mobile, AL and Keith Caceres, Terrytown. She leaves behind two beautiful great-granddaughters, Coral-Lyn Ponish, Los Angeles, CA and Gabrielle Caceres, Harahan.

            Visitation at McKneely Funeral Home, 110 E. Factory St., Amite, from 9 a.m. until religious services at 11 a.m. Saturday, February 26, 2011. Services conducted by Rev. Gaylord Dodgen and Pastor Jeff McKneely. Interment Arcola-Roseland Cemetery, Arcola.
