            Virdie A. “Sweet Pea” Dees, 75, a retired Bell South employee, passed away Tuesday, March 11, 2008, at her home. Funeral services will be held today at 11:00am from the Chapel of Wright & Ferguson Funeral Home High Street. Visitation will be today from 10:00am till service time at the funeral home. Burial will be in Cedarlawn Cemetery, Jackson, MS.

            Mrs. Dees was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America and Creston Hills Baptist Church where she loved her church family. Mrs. Dees was one of ten children born to Nathan and Susie Alford. She graduated from Crystal Springs High School and retired from Bell South/AT&T after forty years of service.

            Sweet Pea was preceded in death by her husband, Bobby Dees; her parents; five brothers and three sisters.

            She is survived by her children, Sonny Dees and wife, Pennye, of Clinton, Debbie Ivy and husband, Charlie, of Ocean Springs, and John Dees of Jackson; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; sister, Susie Conley, of Crystal Springs and various nieces and nephews, including special niece, Linda Keyes, who sweetly ministered to Sweet Pea until her death.

            She was an avid scrap-booker, having over 100 scrapbooks which she began when she started work with the telephone company. Memorials may be made to Creston Hill Baptist Church, Jackson, Mississippi.
