            Our beloved wife, mother, and friend, Mattie Lou Fry passed away May 26, 2008. She was born May 4, 1932 in New Gulf, Texas. Her life included living in the Philippines, experiencing the World War II blitz in London, and becoming the first woman lifeguard in Texas. Her family finally settled in Bellaire where she raised her family and was a member of the Bellaire United Methodist Church. Her love of life and huge heart will be missed by all.

            Mattie was preceded in death by her parents, Harold DeWitt Giddings, M.D. and Vesta Alford Giddings; and daughter Elizabeth Anne Fry.

            She will be greatly missed by her family, husband of 55 years, Harvey Markham Fry; her children, Markham Fry of Houston TX, Dr. Matthew Fry and his wife Rhonda of Hattiesburg, MS; Tracy Longoria and her husband Joe of Bellaire, TX; grandchildren, Christopher Fry, Joshua Fry, Ashley Fry, Lyndsey Fry, Cynthia Fry, Madison Adair, James Adair and James Long

            A memorial service honoring Mattie's life will be held at 3:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 28, 2008, at the Bellaire United Methodist Church, 4417 Bellaire Blvd., Bellaire, TX 77401. In lieu of flowers the family would ask that you make a donation to the SPCA or animal shelter of your choice.

            Mattie was the sister of Vesta Giddings Bowden, AAFA #0537, and the daughter of Vesta Alford Giddings, AAFA #0233.
