Bogalusa, Washington Parish, LA—Wednesday, 7 January 2009

 

            James Denman McClendon, age 86, a resident of Mt. Hermon, died at 7:45 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 5 at his residence.

            He was a retired dairyman and a member of Mt. Hermon Baptist Church. He was a devoted husband, loving father and grandfather and friend to all in the community.

            He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Pansy Bateman McClendon of Mt. Hermon; two daughters: Carolyn McClendon of Raleigh, N.C. and Marilyn McClendon of South Portland, Me., two grandchildren: Marisa Schilling of Mt. Hermon and Russell Len Smith of Mt. Hermon; and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Kathryn McClendon Smith and his parents, Eli and Valentine Lebo McClendon.

            Visitation will be at Crain Funeral Home from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 7, continuing on Thursday, from 9 a.m. until time for the funeral service in the chapel at 11 a.m. with Rev. Ed Jenkins, Rev. Dale Parker, Rev. Ace McVea and Dr. Joe Baugh officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Hermon Cemetery.

            The family requests donations to Hospice of St. Tammany, 4410 Hwy 22, Mandeville, LA 70471, in honor of their service to the family.
