            Ruth Sentell Bergeron—A retired kindergarten and first-grade teacher in Lafourche Parish and a resident of Thibodaux, she died at 6 a.m. Wednesday, March 11, 1998.

            She was 79, born Nov. 23, 1918. in Baton Rouge. Visiting at First Presbyterian Church, 522 Green St., Thibodaux, 70301, 9 a.m. Saturday until religious services at noon.... Interment in St. Joseph Cemetery.

            Survived by a daughter, Beth Bergeron, Los Angeles; a son, John Bergeron, Connecticut; and three grandchildren, Lisette Bergeron, Virginia, Jim Bergeron, Thibodaux, and Gabriel Bergeron, Colorado.

            Preceded in death by husband, George David Bergeron Jr.; parents, James Henry and Ruth Reymond Whitaker Sentell; a son, James David Bergeron; a granddaughter, Jeannine Katherine Bergeron; and a brother, George Whitaker Sentell.

            She was a member and former organist of First Presbyterian Church, Thibodaux, a graduate of Poydras High School, New Roads, a 1938 graduate of LSU, a member of Kappa Delta sorority, a noted genealogist and member of Louisiana Genealogical and Historical Society as well as the Sons and Daughters of West Florida. She was a musical influence in the Thibodaux community.

            Ruth is a descendant of Rebecca Alford, b. about 1790 in Greene Co., GA, and died in 1837, married Hugh Dickson.
