Brownie Jean McElmoyl, 62, of Prescott, died
Monday, July 9, 2001, in Duncan, Okla.
She was born Sept. 4, 1934, in Shreveport, La.,
to Steven A. and Joyce (Powell) Alford. Mrs. McElmoyl attended Lake Charles
High School and received a bachelor’s degree from Texas Women’s University in
Denton, Texas. After college she moved to Phoenix and taught physical education
at Carl Hayden High School. She also worked as a tennis professional at John
Gardiner’s Tennis Ranch in Scottsdale in the 1970s.
Mrs. McElmoyl moved to Prescott in the early
1990s and worked as human resources coordinator for the Yavapai Gaming Agency.
Her family and friends will remember her as a person of compassion who had a
unique sense of humor.
Surviving are her daughter, Courtney of Duncan,
Okla.; son, Scott of Atlanta, Ga.; sisters, Jane Sims of Lynchburg, Va. and
Joyce Vorman of Stockbridge, Mass.; and one grandchild.
There were no services. At Mrs. McElmoyl’s
request, her ashes will be spread over her mother’s grave in Amite, La....
Don Grantham Funeral Home, Inc., of Duncan,
Okla., helped the family with arrangements.
