Baton Rouge, LA—Sunday, 1 August 2002

 

            Alford, Mary Ruth Schulz (Mrs. Murray L. Alford)—A retired Lafourche Parish teacher and a former longtime resident of Cut Off, she died at Landmark of Baton Rouge on Wednesday, July 31, 2002, at 2 p.m.

            She was born on Nov. 19, 1923, in New Orleans and was a resident of Baton Rouge.

            Visitation at Community Bible Church, 14757 E. Main St., Cut Off, from 11 a.m. Saturday until religious service at 7:30 p.m.... Entombment in Sacred Heart Mausoleum, Cut Off.

            She is survived by five daughters and four sons-in-law, Catherine Seal [AAFA #0574] of Baton Rouge, Mary Louise and Charles Bruce [AAFA #0575] of Cut Off, Arlene and Durward Smith [AAFA #0576] of Lincoln, NE, Gretchen and Ernie Wroten [AAFA #0577] of Baton Rouge and Jill and Rick Richard [AAFA #0579] of Mandeville; two sons and daughters-in-law, Gregory and Elizabeth Alford [AAFA #0578] of Mandeville and Gerhort and Leverna Alford of Lockport [AAFA #0580]; a sister, Lucille DeRouen of Annandale,VA.; 20 grandchildren, Benjie Seal III, Leah Seal Besson, Jason and Anna Seal, Sarah Jane Bruce and Rebekah Bruce Dantin, Sara, Eliza, Durward and Brennan Smith, Matthew and Luke Wroten, Rachel, Aaron and Caleb Alford, Paul and Mark Richard, Joshua and Lauren Ledet and Gerhort Alford; four great grandchildren, Shelby, Charlie and Savannah Seal and Kacey Merle Besson; and an aunt, Irene Schu1z Hymel.

            Preceded in death by her husband, Murray Luther Alford Jr.; twin grandsons, Jonathan and Justin Alford; parents Philip Joseph and Louise Jourdan Schulz. and an aunt Catherine Langlois Schulz.

            She was a member of Community Bible Church, Cut Off, a graduate of Margaret C. Hansen Normal School in New Orleans, received a bachelor of arts degree from Tulane University and a master’s of science degree from LSU. Rabenhorst Funeral Home, 825 Government St., in charge of arrangements.
