            Mary Lucille (Margie) Alford, 58, went to be with her Lord on Thursday, September 12, 1991 in a local hospital.

            She was born November 15, 1932 to Sam and Virginia Sedita Tilotta in Houston, Texas. A devoted and faithful wife to Edgar Gerald Alford Sr., whom she married November 5, 1949 in Houston, Texas.

            Her surviving relatives include her loving husband of 41 years, Edgar Gerald Alford, Sr., Houston; she was a loving Mother to three sons: Edgar Gerald (Jerry) Alford, Jr., his wife Lynn, Dallas; Gary Wayne Alford, Houston; Kerry Gene Alford, Houston. Four brothers, Philip Tilotta, his wife Allie, Tommy Tilotta, his wife Nita, Louis Tilotta, his wife Mickey, and Lee Tilotta, his wife Pegge all of Houston. Two sisters, Josephine Johnson, her husband Henry, and Natalie Miroca, her husband Philip, all of Houston. Margie’s pride and joy were her three grandchildren; Kellie Elizabeth, Allison Merideth and Ashley Leigh Alford.

            Family will receive friends Friday evening from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. in the Waltrip Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 11:30 a.m. Saturday, September 14, 1991 in the Chapel of the Waltrip Funeral Directors…. Interment will be in the Memorial Oaks Cemetery….

 

In AAFA ACTION, June 1992, we published another article, source unknown, that is almost identical to the one published in The Houston Chronicle. The following additional information was included:

 

-     At the end of the first paragraph: “Mrs. Alford was a faithful member of the Sherwood Baptist Church.”

 -    Included in surviving relatives: “daughters-in-law who were very dear to Mary: Lynn Alford and Connie Alford.”

 -    At the end of the last paragraph: “Pallbearers will be: Phil Tilotta Jr, Charles Johnson, Mark Tilotta, Mike Tilotta, Walter Mischer Jr. and Bob Hill. Honorary Pallbearers: Glenn Newsom, C.J. Swyden and Harry Harris.”
