Betty "Granny" Davis of Fort Worth passed away Monday, Nov. 1, 2010, one week short of her 102nd birthday. Service: Betty was laid to rest Monday, Nov. 8, in a family graveside service in Laurel Land Memorial Park, next to her husband, Daryl….

She was tough, strong-willed, talented and generous. She stood her ground, and was always ready give guidance and share her wisdom with those she loved. Betty set out on her own as a teenager in Lake Charles, La., working for attorney Robert Stone who, with his wife, became her dearest friends and mentors. She took the Louisiana Bar. She married Daryl Davis, a young oil man, in 1934 and settled in Midland and had two children, Gwen and Stoney, and ultimately retired in Fort Worth in the mid-1960s. She was active in the Fort Worth Women's Club and Meals on Wheels. She loved to cook, sew, play bridge, travel and spend time with her friends and family.

In 2008, she celebrated her 100th birthday with a gathering of four generations of family. Betty lived an extraordinary life, and all who knew her were blessed to live in her presence, and better for it. We will all miss her.

Betty was preceded in heaven by her husband of 49 years, Daryl Davis; her sisters, Jo and Vesta; and one granddaughter, Amy.

Survivors: Children, Gwen Sharp of Houston and Stoney Davis of Aspen, Colo.; grandchildren, Tami Budd, Robert Hissom, Stone Davis and Ted Davis; and great-grandchildren, Susey, Tommy, Nicholas, Alexander, Nicole, Ashton and Cooper.
