            Yvonne Dorothy Alford, 82, of Hammond, died Saturday, Jan. 2, 2010, at North Oaks Medical Center in Hammond. Yvonne was born on Saturday, June 25, 1927, in McComb, Miss. She graduated from LSU and was vice president of Pi Beta Phi. She was a retired public schoolteacher and a charter member of Immanuel Baptist Church, where she sang in the choir. She was also a volunteer at North Oaks Hospital and a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution.

            Surviving are a daughter, Shirley Alford Brilleaux; son and daughter-in-law, Paul William Alford and Denise Alford; and six grandchildren, Kelly Brilleaux, Nicholas Brilleaux, Katelyn Wheat, Scott Wheat, Sarah Jane Alford and William Patrick Alford.

            She was preceded in death by her husband, Eulon Alfred Alford; parents, Hugh Felder and Grace Gilchrist Felder; sister, Shirley McCollough; and son-in-law, Lee Brilleaux.

            Friends will be received Monday, Jan. 4, at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home in Hammond from 10 a.m. until services begin in the chapel at 1 p.m. Interment will follow in the Felder Family Cemetery in Mississippi. An online guest book is available at www.harrymckneely.com.
