A retired educator with Livingston Parish school
system and a resident of Albany, she died Friday, Aug. 14, 1998, at North Oaks
Medical Center, Hammond. She was 96 and a native of Montegut. Visiting at Harry
McKneely & Son Funeral Home, Hammond... Religious services at the funeral
home chapel at 3 p.m. Sunday.... Interment in Amite Cemetery.
Survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Paul and
Nellie Adams Reeves, Baton Rouge [AAFA #0066]; three sisters, Helen Bankston,
Hammond [AAFA #0398], Charity Johnson, Lake Charles, and Lillian McFarland,
Houston; three grandchildren, Paul Reeves, Jr., Baton Rouge, Nelson Reeves, Jensen,
Fla., and Lucille Barilleau, Baton Rouge; and five great-grandchildren.
Preceded in death by husband, Harry Reeves; two
sisters, Lucille Cole and Mary Cory; three brothers, Clyde Alford, Bailey
Alford Jr. and Eulon Alford [AAFA #0213]; and parents, Bailey and Jennie
Brumfield Alford.
She was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church,
Hammond, past regent of the Daughters of the American Revolution and a member
of the U.D.C. and Colonial Dames.

records show that Kathleen Reeves (SS# issued in LA) was born 26 October 1901, but
her death is listed as 13 October 1998.

Haidee was born in Terrebonne Parish, LA. She
married 10 June 1921 in Tangipahoa Parish, LA, Harry Richardson Reeves, who was
born 16 April 1896, and died 8 May 1965 in Hammond, Tangipahoa Parish.
Haidee’s health kept her from attending any of our annual
meetings, but her influence on AAFA was great and far reaching. She was
inducted into the AAFA Alford Hall of Fame at the 1996 meeting in Springfield,
MO. Five generations of Haidee’s ancestors were included with her In
Remembrance article in AAFA ACTION, Spring 1999.
