SAN SABA—Funeral services for Winston B. Murray of Richland Springs will be at 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 16, at the Howell-Doran Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Sam Crosby officiating. Burial will follow in the Richland Springs Cemetery.
Winston Murray, 89, passed away Thursday, Dec. 13, 2001, in the Brownwood Hospital.
He was born July 8, 1912, in Richland Springs to George Emory and Ethel May Alford Murray. He had been a resident of Richland Springs for the past 25 years. On April 4, 1942, Winston and Maudie Skeeter Wash were married in Richland Springs. After serving the country in the U.S. Army and Air Force for 23 years, he retired from the Air Force and farmed in Richland Springs for two years. He then went back and served the country for sixteen more years in the Civil Service/Army Reserve.
He was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, four brothers and one sister.
He is survived by two sons, David A. Murray and his wife, Susie, of Midland and Thomas John Murray II and his wife, Elizabeth, of San Saba; one daughter, Betty Jane Murray Springer and her husband, Colby, of Southlake; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; two brothers, Nelson Murray of Killeen and George Murray of Fort Worth; and two sisters, Gwen Walsh of Groves and Rosemary Blair of Mableton, Ga. The family requests that memorials be made to the America Heart Association.
