GREENVILLE [Washington Co.]—Elizabeth Alford Williams, 75,
of Greenville, died Jan. 10, 1993, after a lengthy illness.
Visitation will be from 6-8 tonight at Mortimer
Funeral Home of Greenville. Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in the
funeral home chapel.... Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Williams was born Dec. 26, 1917, in
Inverness [Sunflower Co.]. She was the daughter of the late Dr. Julius Whitford
Alford and Ivy Belle Edington Terry Alford.
She was a retired registered nurse and nursing
instructor at Mississippi Delta Community College. She had been a resident of
Greenville for over 70 years, having been educated in the Greenville Public
schools and at Mississippi Delta Community College.
She was a member of the Church of Our Saviour,
Anglican Province of Christ the King.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Murray
Littleton Williams, a native of McComb.
She is survived by one son, Murray L. Williams
Jr. of New Orleans; one grandson, Murray L. Williams III of Natchez; one
sister, Pearl Nix Alford Albritton of Hazlehurst; and several nieces and
nephews.

records confirm the death date of Elizabeth A. Williams (SS# issued in MS), but
her birth date is listed as 25 December 1917, the date that she provided AAFA
and that is on her gravestone.

Elizabeth said her full name is Nancy Elizabeth
Alford, but apparently she never used Nancy. Nancy Elizabeth Erwin was the name
of her mother’s mother.
She was the daughter of Julius Whitford Alford
and his second wife, Ivy Belle Edington Terry Alford.
