AAFA NOTES: SSDI records show that Cecil W. Alford (SS# issued
in MS) was born 2 Feb 1923 and died 1 Oct 2002.
We published the obituary of his mother, Rena
Maye Baker Alford Grooms, in the Texas Obituaries compilation.
Wylie and his wife Charlotte, who died within
months of each other, were founding members of AAFA, but they were a part of
our organized Alford research effort from its beginning—long before the
formation of AAFA. Even before that Charlotte corresponded frequently with
Alford researchers such as Tressie Bowman, Dave Price, Elmer Miller, Haidee
Reeves, etc. During all this time both Wylie and Charlotte suffered a number of
different serious health problems, but they were able to make it the 1990 AAFA
meeting in Raleigh, NC.
